Our Mission
Our mission is to create a safe space for our dancers while celebrating our culture.
Every dance rehearsal is full of sweat, tears and aches of pain but it is always filled with joy. Our members from Corazon de Mexico Company are all united like friends but they see each other as family. We celebrate our culture and with joy we dance. We have one goal every time we perform. That is to fill our crowd, small or big, with smiles and happiness. A silly dance to some, may make someone else’s day. There are not many folklore groups in NC and it’s rare to see one.
Our mission is to spread our culture and mexican heritage throughout North Carolina. To keep our Mexican traditions alive and to bring them to future generations. To help our people or any person at all, find happiness within dancing and themselves. We strive to preserve our culture’s dances, languages and traditions.

Our Story
Ballet Folklorico Corazon de Mexico was created in 2018 by Jose Luis Mendez, who is now the director and founder of the group.
The main purpose of the group when it first started out was to dance at churches to celebrate Mexican culture.
It first started with only 6 people who were taught by the director. The group now has over 20 people and counting. We started off dancing at public places such as libraries, downtown cities and small festivals. We became being more well known through these past years. The group was first created as a fun “after school activity.”
Mendez didn’t think it would become a big and important part of his life.
This soon changed in 2019 when more members started joining the group.
